Sports and Nominations for Deaf Athletes

usadsfThe USADSF is regarded as the only national athletic association to help coordinate the contribution of American deaf and hard involving hearing people with international competitions. Election:

Electors may vote for up to three candidates in each category (female and male) on a scale of five points for first choice, three points for second choice, and one point for third choice. To be elected as the winner of USADSF Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Award, each candidate shall receive the highest points cast by the electors. In the event there is a tie vote, the winner shall be determined on the basis of most first place votes. Should there still be a tie, the basis of the most second-place votes in addition to first-place votes shall determine the winner.

Expenses:

The USADSF Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year shall receive the lowest available round-trip airfare purchased through the USADSF-authorized travel agency. In the event the new recipient prefers to travel by car, bus or train, rather than by air, he/she shall be reimbursed at 75% of prevailing IRS mileage rates or the round-trip cost by air, whichever is lower. Depending on the availability of funds, the USADSF shall pay for the cost of up to two nights of lodging either in the headquarters hotel or in the nearest alternative lodging. The Chair of the Committee shall be responsible for making the necessary room reservations and informing each recipient of the details.

Ceremony:

The Chair of USADSF Hall of Fame, Awards and Recognition Committee, in cooperation with the host, shall arrange for the reservation of a ceremony room and menu suitable for the honors and presentation of USADSF Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year

Awards:

All of the newly elected USADSF Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year recipients shall receive a citation in the form of a plaque in recognition of their achievements. The USADSF Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year will automatically become USADSF’s submission for consideration for ICSD’s WIDEX Athlete of the Year Award.
